There's no single "correct" answer — the fair split is the one everyone agrees to. Room size is the most common tie-breaker: measure each bedroom (or just rank them), and let the bigger or better room pay a bit more. A common refinement is to weight shared square footage equally and only split the private bedroom area by size.
If utilities, internet and a cleaner are roughly fixed each month, add them to the total here and split everything by the same rule. If a bill swings month to month, or one person covers it and needs paying back, keep it out and use the full splitter — enter who paid what and it nets everyone out into the fewest payments to settle up.
When someone moves in or out mid-month, they only owe rent for the days they're there. Multiply their monthly share by the days occupied divided by the number of days in the month. Moving in on the 20th of a 30-day month means 11 days, so they pay their monthly share × 11 ÷ 30. Do the proration first, then use this tool for the ongoing months.
